As a patient at Tri-State Regional Cancer Center, you have a right to:

• Information about pain and pain relief measures
   

• A concerned staff committed to pain prevention and management
   

• Health professionals who respond quickly to reports of pain
   

• Your reports of pain will be believed
   

• Dedicated pain relief specialist

Patient’s Responsibilities:

As a patient of Tri-State Regional Cancer Center, we expect that you will:

• Ask your doctor, nurse, or therapist what to expect regarding pain and how to manage it
   

• Discuss pain relief options with your doctors and nurses
   

• Work with your doctor and nurse to develop a pain management plan
   

• Help the doctor and nurse if your pain is not relieved
   

• Tell your doctor or nurse about any worries you have concerning taking pain medication
   

• Refrain from taking someone else’s pain medication, as well as “prescription shopping” or asking other physicians for pain medication prescriptions
