Clinical Trials
Many patients diagnosed with cancer will qualify and
choose to participate in clinical trials. These
programs test the newest and sometimes experimental
treatments against the standard of care. Clinical
trials enable physicians to quickly learn which new
treatments improve outcomes and reduce side effects.
Cancer survival rates have continued to increase due
to the utilization of clinical trials.
TSRCC participates with King’s Daughters Medical
Center Cancer Resource Center. Sherry Davis, RN, OCN,
is clinical research coordinator. KDMC is affiliated
with the Kentucky Lung Cancer Research Network, the (NSABP)
National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project,
and the National Cancer Institute’s Clinical Trials
Support Unit.
